Continental Realty Corporation (CRC), a Baltimore-based real estate investment and management company with a portfolio value exceeding $4 billion across 12 states, has selected Matthew Joiner as Senior Vice President, Multifamily Acquisitions. Formerly Senior Director and Head of US Multifamily for CapitaLand Investment in New York City, Joiner has more than 18 years of diversified real estate experience.
Joiner’s primary responsibility will be to identify and acquire multifamily properties in CRC’s target markets throughout the Southeast region of the country that satisfy the company’s acquisition requirements, private equity funds, and investors. He will also direct due diligence and closing efforts, establish new and strengthen existing relationships within the brokerage and capital markets industries, and support underwriting responsibilities. Joiner will engage with investors, research companies and other constituents to further elevate the visibility and awareness of CRC’s brand on a national level.
Joiner will be based in CRC’s New York City offices and will team with Ari Abramson, CRC’s Vice President of Multifamily Acquisitions to investigate and pursue acquisition opportunities.
“With our goal of owning and operating 20,000 multifamily units by 2030, it was essential to expand our team with a highly seasoned real estate professional like Matt, who brings extensive relationships and a successful track record in acquisitions, including buying larger portfolios,” stated JM Schapiro, CRC’s Chief Executive Officer. “Matt’s analytical and data-driven approach, combined with his leadership skills, will complement our existing team. By joining forces with Ari Abramson, Matt will help drive our collective efforts towards accelerated growth and success. Together, their combined expertise will enable us to recognize and source compelling opportunities that align with our investors’ expectations and capitalize on changing market conditions.”
During his nearly seven-year tenure with Singapore-based CapitaLand Investment, recognized as the largest real estate manager in Asia and among the largest managers globally, Joiner led an acquisitions team which purchased or joint ventured on the development of more than 5,000 multifamily units including a 16-property portfolio valued at nearly $900 million, while also focusing on the acquisition of other real estate asset classes. Joiner also held acquisitions and analyst positions at Equus Capital Partners.
Joiner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a minor in Economics from Pennsylvania State University and completed the Columbia Business School Executive Education Leadership Development program. He is also certified by the Institute in Banking and Finance, Singapore, in Capital Markets and Financial Advisory Services (CMFAS).
