Industry Experts Explore the Intersection of Preservation and Innovation in Miami's Architectural Landscape

Constellation Group and The Boschetti Group, Miami-based real estate development firms, joined forces with One Sotheby's International Realty to host a captivating panel discussion on how the enduring influence of Art Deco style has shaped Miami's architectural identity. The event, titled “Miami Beach Luxury: Moving Back to The Art Deco Era,” took place at the One Sotheby’s Miami Beach office located at 119 Washington Avenue.

The distinguished panel, skillfully moderated by One Sotheby’s own Ignacio Arias, included Daniel Ciraldo, Executive Director of the Miami Design Preservation League; Ray Fort, AIA, Vice President of Arquitectonica; Wendy Kallergis, President & CEO of Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association; and Eduardo Otaola, Managing Principal of Constellation Group. The esteemed panelists shared their insights on the delicate balance between preserving Miami's Art Deco heritage and embracing innovative design.

"Art Deco is more than an architectural style; it's a testament to Miami's vibrant soul and rich history," Otaola remarked. "As we navigate the complexities of urban development, it is imperative that we find ways to protect and celebrate this architectural legacy while adapting to the evolving needs of our community."

The panel discussion capped off with two exciting project announcements. “To best support our brokers, we are delighted to extend a 7% commission incentive, reinforcing our commitment to building strong partnerships within the brokerage community,” said Daniel de la Vega, President of One Sotheby’s International Realty.  “On the heels of announcing the new studio collection at Ella Miami Beach, there’s no better time than now for brokers to leverage Ella’s unique value proposition for savvy clients seeking affordable luxury in the heart of Miami Beach.”

The panelists delved into the challenges and opportunities that arise when melding historic preservation with contemporary design. Fort shared his perspective, stating, "By thoughtfully integrating modern elements and sustainable practices, we can breathe new life into these iconic structures, ensuring their relevance and longevity for generations to come."

The panel also explored the broader impact of Art Deco preservation on Miami's tourism industry, economic growth, and community identity. The experts agreed that finding harmony between the past and the present is crucial for the sustainable development and cultural vibrancy of the city.

The event left attendees with a renewed appreciation for the enduring allure of Art Deco architecture and a heightened sense of responsibility to preserve and celebrate Miami's unique architectural heritage. Constellation Group’s Ella Miami Beach exemplifies this commitment to marrying Art Deco aesthetics with modern luxury.

Ella Miami Beach combines the celebrated works of award-winning international architectural firm Arquitectonica and legendary designer Interiors by Steven G. to pay homage to Miami Beach’s glamorous past while ushering in a new era of sophisticated Miami Beach living.

Inspired by the iconic Art Deco period, the development team intended to design the low-density, 10-story boutique condominium of just 103 exclusive residences that would transport residents back to Miami Beach’s heyday of chic.

In a nod to the immensely popular Art Deco and Miami Modern (MiMo) architectural influences of that era, Arquitectonica paired Art Deco streamlined curves with modern 21st-century lines that highlight the building’s sweeping rooftop views that stretch from the bay on one side to the ocean on the other.  Other hallmarks of the architectural style, including soft, rounded building edges; nautical elements; architectural façade webbing; and scalloped or fluted patterns, were also incorporated into the design of Ella Miami Beach.

Award-winning interior designer, Steven G. and his firm, Interiors by Steven G., favored a color palette of eye-catching bright colors and geometric shapes and patterns for all the property's fabrics, wallpaper, and furnishings.  Other signature design elements of the genre were incorporated into the building’s interior design, including rich gold and bronze tones, prominent arches and curved edges, as well as fluted paneling.

Located at 6940 Abbott Avenue just two blocks from the beach, Ella Miami Beach’s unrivaled amenities include private beach club access, coworking space, a resident lounge, and a roof deck with a pool, pickleball court, fitness center, and meditation/yoga lawn, all with sweeping water views. The roof deck additionally offers a wellness center complete with a sauna and cold plunge.

Redefining affordable luxury in the heart of Miami Beach, Constellation Group most recently unveiled a new line of 30 studio residences at Ella Miami Beach, each spanning approximately 340 feet. With prices starting in the $500,000s, the studio collection provides an unrivaled value proposition for those looking to invest in one of the top real estate markets in the country.
